The first day of ROG Masters 2017 has come to an end, with Gambit and Grayhound finishing at the top of their respective groups.
The current Major champions were made to work hard to finish atop the group, requiring a tiebreaker match against Splyce after splitting maps with the North American side earlier in the day.
Abay "HObbit" Khassenov was the driving force behind Gambit, but the Kazakhstani team also had a major contributor in Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev, who averaged a 1.32 Rating in the group matches.
Group B was early won by Grayhound, who gave a great account of themselves and beat Vega Squadron and TYLOO in two close series, with Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai finishing the day with an impressive 1.21 Rating.
After drawing their group encounter, TYLOO and Vega Squadron faced each other in the tiebreaker. Nikolay "mir" Bityukov and Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand, the star players of the two teams, looked way off colour in the match, which saw the Russian side come out victorious with a solid all-round display.
With Gambit and Grayhound both through to the last-four stage, the quarter-finals, scheduled for Friday, with feature the following matches:
