The Danish team eliminated Gambit and fnatic but couldn't complete the playoffs run.
Powerhouse squads set for the Major such as Gambit, BIG, and ENCE were invited to the playoffs of the $100,000 Elisa Invitational Fall, but it was two group stage teams in Fiend and Copenhagen Flames that battled against the odds to reach the grand final.
In a rematch of the Major-spot deciding game from IEM Fall, Fiend got their revenge on Copenhagen Flames with a dominant 2-0 (16-2 Inferno, 16-8 Nuke), and bagged $50,000 for their troubles.
Fiend's in-game leader Kamen "bubble" Kostadinov spoke on the broadcast after the game, noting that they usually "have tough games, always close matches" against Copenhagen Flames, but this one was different. He thinks it is because the Danes ran out of gas after defeating the world No. 2 in the semi-finals: "Gambit took their energy."
The 30-year-old Bulgarian said that getting revenge on Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen and co. was good, but he nonetheless wished his opponents good luck in Stockholm at the Major. For Fiend, just winning an event where they had to defeat SKADE, BIG, and Lyngby Vikings on route to the grand finals is a massive accomplishment. "We never won a tournament, any tournament, so it brings confidence," bubble concluded.
The team's standout performers were once again AWPer Deyvid "h4rn" Benchev and returnee to top-level CS Simeon "dream3r" Ganev. Both averaged over a 1.25 rating across over 19 maps played, with other standouts at the event being Finest's Robin "robiin" Sjögren (1.19 rating, 14 maps), HAVU's Lasse "ZOREE" Uronen (1.18 rating, 13 maps), and Lyngby Vikings' Dion "FASHR" Derksen (1.18 rating, 19 maps).
